How the Jefferson Post Got Started

By Caroline Campbell and Emersen Geis

How did The Jefferson Post get started in the first place? It began as an idea by two sixth graders who had a newspaper in elementary school and wanted everyone at Jefferson to have a chance at it.

After talking with some teachers who thought it was a great idea, they took the idea to Principal Guzman. He told them they needed a leader in charge, and Mr. Carpenter volunteered. The Jefferson Post was established.

Together, they had been working on flyers for the newspaper.  Mr. Carpenter printed them out, then Emersen and Caroline stayed after hours and hung them up throughout the school (you might have seen a few). Since September, there have been weekly meetings every Wednesday.

Are YOU interested in joining The Jefferson Post?  Come to Mr. Carpenter’s room (606) after school on Wednesdays until 3:05pm.  Everyone is welcome!
