Jefferson’s First Annual Trivia Night

By Matthew Ferrer

Not too long ago,  I signed myself up to the first annual trivia night!  The event was a great source of fun and joy. It was a place for friendly rivalry and relaxation,  as well.

Let’s start off with the basics.  In order to get into our trivia night beforehand,  you, a friend, or a family member must sign a permission sheet to RSVP before the trivia night begins.  The permission sheet isn’t too complicated; it’s easy to look at. Then, once you’re done filling everything out,  turn the sheet into your homeroom teacher.

Once you’re able to give your permission slip to your homeroom teacher,  the real fun begins. At least, shortly. Before you go to the trivia night,  you must remember the exact date and time to arrive at. For example, for this year’s trivia night,  the event was held after-school, on January 24, from 6-7:30 P.M.

Now,  for what was at this year’s trivia night.  At the start, there was free food. This includes items like chicken wings.  There were beverages and refreshments for sale, too. Along with the trivia, there was a silent auction for things like water bottles,  books, and t-shirts, as well.

Besides the food and drinks,  around the beginning of the trivia night,  the atmosphere was very energetic with people laughing around.  The first three rounds of questions were related to cartoons, Motown (music),  and geography. Most of the questions were simple and easily answered (I personally excelled at answering Illinois geography questions).

Of course,  with all competitive games,  the ending of the trivia got more serious.  There wasn’t much loud noise coming from each team of people,  but we were all discussing pensively. The last two question rounds were themed “Top Ten Movies of 2018”,  and “Under The Sea” (you had to answer with a word that started with “sea”).
